ANIC is looking for ideas that will transform the way that African media work. This means that your idea should offer significant and tangible improvements to existing tools or techniques, or should propose new ways for African journalists to gather news, tell stories, engage with audiences, or sustain media organisations.
Ideas that have the potential to be replicated or that could scale continentally will have an advantage.
To create Green+Africa TV: an online TV platform for the green/sustainability movement in Africa linked to the Green Africa Directory.
YouTube, Vimeo, Climate Change TV and many others do provide video sharing platforms, but they are not specifically focused on Africa or the sustainability sector and they are not able to link and integrate with company profiles and contact details or searchable by map.
Green+Africa TV would help consolidate and promote all sustainability organizations and their news by being an online repository for all green news and information in Africa. This would help organizations network in more focused ways and would also help journalists and media organizations to find current and newsworthy stories from Africa.
Green+Africa TV would be an online platform for organizations across Africa to post video news and have linked company profiles (and contact information) in the Green Africa Directory. It would also be a platform for people to watch and search for live streams from around the world and would help journalists and media find relevant newsworthy stories. It would be integrated with social media so that popular stories could be found and shared easily. It would be searchable by map, topic and popularity.
The Green Africa Directory is soon to be launched, which showcases sustainability organizations from all over Africa. By linking a video sharing news-oriented platform to that site, it would help green organizations in Africa to promote their work and news, enable more interaction between organizations and citizens and would help journalists find new and interesting green-focused news.
At the moment, just the founding director of the Green Africa Directory. Additional staff would be required to implement and manage the Green+Africa TV platform. I am keen to partner and collaborate with others on this project or work with interested investors or donors.
The Green Africa Directory platform has already been developed and the Green+Africa TV platform could be linked and integrated with this.
I would look for venture capital or donor funding to support the implementation costs of the project and could also potentially sustain and support it through online advertising and Green+Africa TV video services.
